Pitbull Breeds:Following their acceptance into both the American Kennel Club and the United Kennel Club,the American Staffordshire Terrier and the American Pit Bull Terrier have been bred separately from each other, leading to two separate breeds of dogs. Some kennel clubs, such as the AKC, do not recognize the American Pit Bull as a pure breed, and instead only recognize Staffordshire Bull and American Staffordshire Terriers.
Selective reproduction of each breed has lead to similarities among them. However, the breeds do differ somewhat in temperament as well as physical appearance. American Pit Bulls are often bred selectively for a variety of traits including their nature towards young children as well as their strength.
